The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public recall alert, warning consumers to avoid Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles following the discovery of undeclared milk and egg allergens that could pose serious health risks.
In a statement released under Public Alert No. 041/2025, dated December 18, 2025, NAFDAC said the recall was initiated after a notification from Rappel Conso of France, the country’s food safety authority, which confirmed through laboratory analysis that the product contains allergens not listed on its label.
According to NAFDAC, the recall affects all batches of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026. The agency added that the country of origin of the affected product was not specified in the recall notice.
NAFDAC explained that the presence of undeclared milk and egg components could trigger severe allergic reactions in consumers with allergies or intolerances, making the product unsafe for a segment of the population.
Although the agency noted that the risk of the recalled product entering Nigeria remains low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, it warned that illegal importation, online purchases, and international travel could still lead to its circulation within the country.
“The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control is informing the public that the French Authority, Rappel Conso of France, has issued a recall notice on Indomie brand Vegetable Flavour noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs,” the statement read.
NAFDAC further disclosed that it has activated nationwide surveillance to prevent the entry and distribution of the recalled product. All zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to intensify monitoring and immediately seize the product wherever it is found.
The agency also cautioned distributors, retailers, and consumers to remain vigilant and avoid the sale, purchase, or consumption of the affected Indomie noodles. Consumers who encounter the product have been advised to discard it immediately and not consume it.
Members of the public were urged to report sightings or suspected sales of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free line 0800-162-3322.
Adverse reactions linked to the product can also be reported via NAFDAC’s e-reporting platforms.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and urged Nigerians to always check product labels and safety alerts before consumption.
